Coach Tennis Across Europe or California This Summer
Picture this: it’s a warm July evening in Spain. You're sitting at a local tennis club, watching some teenage players compete in a tournament, while others cheer them on. A week ago, most of them were all strangers, and now they are becoming fast friends—talking tennis, joking around, and planning where they want to go sightseeing in Barcelona tomorrow. You’re the one who helped make it all happen: the travel, the training, and the hype speech before a big match or pep talk after a tough loss. And you’re getting paid to do it.
That’s a snapshot of summer as an Atlas Tennis coach.

What the job is
Atlas Tennis sends groups of 10-15 teenage players on 2-3 week trips through Europe or California, where they train, compete in tournaments, and visit some of the most iconic cities and landmarks in the world. As a coach and group chaperone, you travel with the team the whole way and make the trip happen.
Every trip has at least two coaches, including at least one man and one woman. Trips run between June 26 and July 19, 2027, and you’ll meet the team at the airport in the New York area or start in Europe when everyone arrives.
What you’ll do
- Manage day-to-day operations: transportation, practice and tournament schedules, sightseeing, meals, and whatever else comes up
- Design and run daily practice plans and give players feedback on their training and match play
- Build group unity, turning a bunch of individual players into a team
- Write player evaluations at the end of each trip
What’s in it for you
- All trip expenses covered: flights from your home, accommodations, meals, and pre-planned sightseeing.
- A weekly salary on top of the all-expenses-paid trip. Starting salaries range from $500 to $800/week.
- Significant commission potential for referring players who join the trips—this can add thousands of dollars to your paycheck!
- Pro tennis access: depending on the trip, chances to attend Wimbledon or other pro events where we typically meet players and coaches.

Who we’re looking for
You love tennis, travel, and leadership, and you stay calm when plans change, which on a trip with teenagers, they will. We’re looking for:
- A strong background as a tennis player and/or coach
- Travel experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- An outstanding sense of responsibility
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to drive a car or van
- Completion of USTA SafePlay certification and background check
Nice to have: fluency in French, Spanish, or Dutch; the ability to drive a manual transmission; experience driving on the left (shoutout to the UK); and previous experience coaching a team. We also give preference to candidates who can help us recruit players.
About Atlas Tennis
Our mission is to positively change lives through tennis, travel, and personal connections. We design trips that help players develop through training and competition in new places, and grow as people by stepping out of their comfort zones in unfamiliar cultures.
Atlas was co-founded by Eric Butorac (US Open Tournament Director), Sam Duvall (President, Topnotch Management), Andrew Chmura (Head of Tennis at QUINT), and Megan Moulton-Levy (Senior Director, USTA Venue Optimization).
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be a certified coach? We require USTA SafePlay certification, which involves an online course as well as a background check, but there is no cost to you for this. While certifications from USTA Coaching, PTR, and RSPA are welcome, they are not required to apply.
Can I choose between Europe and California? We will take requests for specific trips into consideration, but we usually can't guarantee a trip assignment.
Am I responsible for booking the travel? Typically, no. As a coach, you will receive a detailed plan for the trip with all the info and confirmations you need about flights, hotels, tournament entries, and more. Your responsibility is to execute the plan, make a daily plan based on the tournament schedules and how our players do (i.e. when they get eliminated) and adjust that plan when needed. We'll handle the pre-trip planning.
Do I get time off during the trip? Over the course of a 2-3 week journey, there will be little windows where you'll find down time to rest or explore on your own, but there are no full days off from your responsibilities as a coach. Our coaches are "on" for the full trip. That said, you are welcome to arrive early or stay late before or after the trip for time on your own—we'll typically cover your flights home whenever you choose to head back. For example, if our trip wraps up in Amsterdam on July 18 and you decide to stay in Europe another week and fly home on July 25, Atlas will cover that return flight home.
How to apply
Send your resume and a brief written statement (1-2 paragraphs) about why you’d be a great fit to Director Ben Shapiro at ben@atlas.tennis. Incomplete applications, or statements written using AI, will not be considered.
